Permablitz & IPC9 Recap @ Linbro Park in Joburg

13 December 2009

On December 13, 2009 permaculturalist Florian Kroll hosted a Permablitz at his home site in Linbro Park, Johannesburg.  The group of permaculture practitioners and local community members spent the day learning about permaculture and hearing about new initiatives both locally and internationally.  The day started with a site tour of Florian's permaculture garden, greywater recycling system, and natural building structures.  Then the group set to work, building trellises in the garden, planting seedlings, creating seed pellets, and cooking up a delicious meal for sharing at the end of the work session.  Lots was accomplished in the garden, and a scrumptious meal served and enjoyed by all, after which the group sat in a circle while IPC9 attendees Florian Kroll, Nicholas Heinamann, Lindsay Dozoretz and Elin Lindhagen brought the insights of the conference into the community, sparking interesting discussions and inspiring potential collaborations.  It also became a forum for introducing the idea of Plan Africa, and beginning the process of expanding that network into the local community.

Overall the day was a great success and a lot of fun and we hope to be hosting similar events again soon!
